At a first glance, this is a nice lyrical picture. When scrutinizing the picture, the spectator will notice that through usual objects I show social problems, and the objects themselves get a new philosophical interpretation which is easily recognizable by the contemporary people. The sheep are positioned along the road in the shape if a dollar sign. The line of rams can be considered as a queue (in real life it was the queue to the watering place). This picture is also a social metaphor. Life looks very different depending on the point of view. This artwork is not one of usual provocative pictures. It demonstrates how unpredictably symbolic things and events in our surrounding world can be. The ram that looks at us can also be considered as a metaphor: only one person out of a hundred can be different from the rest of "the sheep". The symbols are simple, but there is no one single interpretation of them. Some observers decided that I depicted the Russian citizens; others think that from now on, Americans will never give me even a tourist visa :-); yet another group holds to the opinion that this is a direty por picture. I like the variety of opinions, because this means that the picture does not leave the spectators indifferent. С одной стороны, это милая лиричная картина. С другой, через изображение привычных объектов я демонстрирую социальные проблемы, а сами объекты обретают новое философское прочтение, легко узнаваемое современниками. Овцы расположились вдоль дороги строго как знак доллара. Строй баранов можно рассматривать как очередь (в реальной жизни это была «очередь» к водопою). Но это также социальная метафора. Жизнь очень по-разному выглядит в зависимости от точки зрения. Эта работа не из разряда обычных провокаций. Она демонстрирует как непредсказуемо символичны бывают явления в реальной природе, которая нас окружает. Баран, который смотрит на нас, также может быть рассмотрен как метафора: лишь один человек из ста может не быть похожим на других «овец». Символы просты, но трактуются они не однозначно. Одни зрители решили, что в виде баранов я изобразил российских граждан, другие считают, что теперь американская сторона меня не пустит даже в качестве туриста:), третьи считают, что это грязное порно. Мне нравятся разные мнения, потому что это значит, что картина не оставила равнодушными моих зрителей.
